Son Doong Cave ranked in world’s top 15 breathtaking destinations

According to Buzzfeed, an American online social news and entertainment giant, Son Doong Cave in Vietnam’s central Quang Binh province is listed in the world’s top 15 Breathtaking Destinations that adventurous people should visit once in their lifetime. Among the destinations, Son Doong Cave is placed at 13th position.

Son Doong Cave, located in Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park, Quang Binh province, is the world’s largest cave which was classified by the British Cave Research Association. It was made public in 2009 by a group of British scientists from the British Cave Research Association after they extensively surveyed the area.

Son Doong Cave is more than 200m wide, 150m high and about 9km long. Within its caverns lie a jungle and a river, and the cave is large enough to fit a 40-storey skyscraper inside.

At present, adventure tour to Son Doong Cave, operated by Oxalis Adventure Tours, is designed five days and four nights at the cost of VND66 million (roughly 3,000 USD) per person during the January–August period.

Each tour is a maximum number of 10 visitors but requires a team of 25 porters and cooks, a tour guide, two cave experts and two park rangers.

Visitors need to ensure they are in good health before embarking on the adventurous trip. People who suffer from high blood pressure, cardiac diseases, joint problems or diabetes are not eligible for the tour.

Many foreign visitors like adventure have booked to explore this adventourous tour. In 2016, number of visitors exploring Son Doong Cave is only permitted a maximum of 500 persons.

Some destinations among the world’s top 15 Breathtaking Destinations included “the Door to Hell” in Derweze, Turkmenistan; “the Stairway to Heaven” in Oahu, Hawaii; “the Devil’s Pool,” bordering Zimbabwe and Zambia in Africa; the “Swing at the End of the World” in Baños, Ecuador….
