The meeting was attended by Mr. Ngo Hoai Chung, Deputy Director General of VNAT, leading representatives of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh provinces. On the side of Quang Binh province, there was Mr. Nguyen Xuan Quang, Standing Deputy Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee together with representatives of related departments and branches.

The strategy and master plan on Viet Nam's tourism development to 2020 and vision to 2030 are approved by the Prime Minister and the north central region is considered as a tourism development area which plays an important role in the country. Of which, four provinces of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh and Quang Binh play an important role to the implementment of national strategic targets. Therefore, promoting tourism development cooperation in north central region is one of key contents of the ministries and central agencies.

The programme on tourism development cooperation between four provinces in north central region is given a technical support from the project "Environmentally and Socially Responsible Tourism Capacity Development Programme" funded by the European Union (known as the ESRT Programme) with the supporting policies such as establishment of organizational structure, building network of effective cooperation between State sector and private sector; building skilled forces on tourism and strengthening competitiveness in tourism.

At this meeting, the provinces discussed and agreed some main contents such as cooperation on building policies on management and development of local tourism, development of tourism products, tourism promotion and development of human resources on tourism, contributing to effectively exploiting tourism potential of each locality and promoting the growth of regional tourism in sustainable manner.
