The working session

At the working session, on behalf of the provincial leaders, Mr. Ho An Phong, the Director of the Department of Tourism reported to the Minister on tourism stimulus programs of Quang Binh province in recent years.
Due to the effect of the Covid-19 epidemic, Quang Binh tourism in the first months of 2020 witnessed a sharp decline in the number of tourists and total revenue, including the temporary suspension of tourist arrivals from March 17 to April 26, 2020. In April, the number of tourists coming to Quang Binh and the total revenue from tourists dropped to the bottom, down 97.2% over the same period in 2019, down 97.4% compared to the plan in 2020.

However, under the timely leadership of the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial People's Council; the effective administration of the Provincial People's Committee; the active coordination of all levels, sectors; the efforts of businesses and people working in tourism, Quang Binh tourism sector has shifted to focus on the domestic tourist market, diversify, improve the quality of tourism products and services, deploy a tourism stimulus program including many synchronous and effective solutions with the goal of turning Quang Binh into one of the fastest tourism recovery destinations in the country.

Specifically, the Department of Tourism has implemented a program "Quang Binh - a safe and distinctive destination" to stimulate tourism in Quang Binh in 2020 with the purpose of promoting and popularizing tourism; implement the destination marketing campaign "Quang Binh - a safe and distinctive destination" through digital media and prominent programs; invite travel bloggers and celebrities to experience and popularize Quang Binh tourism; cooperate with Google, TripAdvisor, Facebook to promote Quang Binh tourism on digital platforms; deploy smart tourism scheme; organize free training courses on digital marketing, advertising on the media; organize activities to advertise and promote Quang Binh tourism through major events of Vietnam tourism.

Especially, on June 5, 2020, at the 14th meeting, the Provincial People's Council passed the resolution No.64 on reducing the charging of some fees due to the impact of Covid-19 epidemic in Quang Binh province from June 15, 2020 to December 31, 2020.

Accordingly, Quang Binh tourism has reorganized its operations quickly and begun to recover stronger and stronger. The recovery rate is estimated at 40% - 50% and it is expected to recover up to 80% in the middle of July...

At the working session, Quang Binh province also proposed to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on some issues, such as: supporting Quang Binh province in completing and upgrading technical infrastructure, supporting tourism development under the target program of tourism infrastructure and other support sources; supporting Quang Binh in promoting and popularizing tourism at international markets and raising the effectiveness of the state management on tourism development; developing Phong Nha-Ke Bang to become a strategic brand in promoting Vietnamese tourism to world markets...

Concluding the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thien highly appreciated the concern of the leaders of Quang Binh province to the tourism sector. The minister also noted some issues that Quang Binh province should focus on in the coming time: continuing promoting the tourism image of Quang Binh despite many difficulties; having specific plans to welcome international tourists back; having specific strategies for domestic tourism; strengthening inspection of accommodation establishments, hotels; tourism associations and tourism businesses in Quang Binh province need to improve the service quality and make good the shortcomings in serving tourists...
