Workshop on management, preservation and development of tourism at the world heritages in Viet Nam

During two days of October 20-21 2007, the Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism, Spain Embassy in Viet Nam and the People's Committee of Quang Binh province coordinated to hold workshop on "Management, preservation and development of tourism at the world heritages in Viet Nam".

Leading representative of the Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism, Spain Embassy in Viet Nam, representative of the Provincial Standing People's Committee and leaders of the World Heritage Management Board in Viet Nam attended.

At the workshop, the delegates were listened the reports of the master plans and development orientation of tourism in the world heritage areas; matter of tourism and heritage; world cultural heritage preservation and tourism development at the world cultural heritages in Viet Nam; matter of cultural heritage; world natural heritage preservation and tourism development; tourism business at the world cultural heritages in Hue ancient capital, relation between development and preservation; experience of community-based tourism development in Hoi An ancient town; questions of tourism development in Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park; reality of management and development of tourism in Ha Long Bay and other contents.

A lot of questions were raised, namely: how to manage and preserve the world heritages in the current economic context. Managers and foreign experts expressed their worries about some Viet Nam world heritages that haven't been managed and preserved in the sustainable direction, affecting to the values of the world heritage.
