Quang Binh to host first sea and island festival

The Vietnam Sea and Island Week 2010 will be held in the central province of Quang Binh in June, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has announced. The festival is part of activities marking the International Year of Biodiversity, the World Environment Day on June 5 and World Oceans Day on June 8, themed "The ocean of the life, preserve the life of the ocean”.

Highlight of the Vietnam Sea and Island Week 2010 will be the program of the  Vietnam sea and island festival, hosted by the Quang Binh provincial People's Committee in coordination with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and the Vietnamese Fatherland Front Committee with a number of activities including a fair promoting the sea-based economy and a meeting to commemorate "the World Environment Day" and "the World Ocean Day" and "the International Year of Biodiversity".

A sand painting contest for students, an exhibition of photos on seas and islands and many other activities will be held during the festival.
