Giving an opening speech at the workshop, Province Chairman Phan Lam Phuong stressed that Building sustainable tourism development plan for Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park region have to meet the heritage’s criteria stipulated by UNESCO, and have to be in accordance with the province’s socio-economic development master plan and sustainable tourism development plan; concurrently ensure the criteria of natural conservation. He stated that the sustainable tourism development plan for Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park should bring into play the values of science, history, culture and specific traditional values in order to create growth values for tourism economy. The sustainable tourism development plan for Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park should be directed toward the interest of the community, improve livelihood to minimize the community’s pressure on natural resource in Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park region. Each investment activity should be directed toward sustainable development, education and improvement of the awareness of protection of environment and the heritage values...

At the workshop, the delegates heard the speeches of experts, including the experience lesson about national park management and sustainable tourism development in the heritage regions; the experience lesson and recommendations from Malaysia; business prospect of investors and private economic sector... The workshop also spent much time to focus on discussion to orient for tourism investment and developed projects, ensuring conservation for the heritage values as well as development of high-quality tourism; establish a tourism information strategy and the issues relating to solutions for management in the heritage regions...

Workshop on building sustainable tourism development plan for Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park region

The workshop was an opportunity to take advantage of consultancy of leading experts in the field of the world heritage management, national park management and tourism development in the national park or in the world heritage region in order to support the sustainable tourism development plan for Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park and its surroundings.
