The website described that “Discovered only in 2010, the cave is considered to be the biggest one in the world! And it is indeed very impressive – there is an entire underworld with the jungle and river, waterfalls, unknown plants and fossils. Cave pearls – calcite crystals – are another unique and interesting feature. The cave is now open for the tourists to view and experience this unbelievable place”.
The reason to explore the cave suggested that the cave was of course to see this amazing cave. But also there was an adventurous streak, because the place was still quite an unexplored terrain. Be among the pioneers and sign up for an adventure of a lifetime.
The cave in the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park is followed by the Waitomo Caves in New Zealand and the Melissani Cave in Greece. The list also includes the Batu Caves in Malaysia, Mendenhall Ice Caves in the US, and caves in the Algarve of Portugal.
Son Doong cave (Vietnamese: Hang Son Doong) is world's largest cave, located in Quang Binh province, Vietnam. It was found by a local man named Ho Khanh in 1991 and was later made public in 2009 by a group of British scientists from the British Cave Research Association after they extensively surveyed the area.
Scientists is believed that it was created 2-5 million years ago by river water eroding away the limestone underneath the mountain Where the limestone was weak, the ceiling collapsed creating huge skylights...
Son Doong has a length of at least 6.5 kilometres and is estimated to be 200 metres in width and at least 150 metres in height (its largest chamber reaches an incredible 250 metres in height, enough space to accommodate a 40-storey skyscraper.
Son Dong is much larger than Deer Cave in Malaysia, currently considered the world’s largest, an explorer said (Deer Cave is 90 meters wide, 100 meters high and 2 kilometers long). The Son Doong cave has replaced to take pole position as the world’s largest cave.
