(Quang Binh Portal) - According to information at Document No.1058/VPUBND-VX dated May 30, 2016, the Provincial People"s Committee licensed to open "Va Cave - Nuoc Nut Cave, different experiences" discovery tour operated by Oxalis Adventure Tour Operator, helping domestic and foreign adventurers have more chance to discover stalactites and stalagmites at Hang Va and Nuoc Nut caves.

While not physically connected to Son Doong, the world's largest cave, Va and Nuoc Nut are part of the same Son Doong cave system. Some explorers commented that the stalactites and stalagmites in Va Cave are even more beautiful and extraordinary than Son Doong Cave.

The two caves were discovered by locals a long time ago and explored by members of the British Cave Research Association in 2000. The Va and Nuoc Nut caves have the same water source as the Son Doong Cave, which has been recognised as the largest cave in the world.

According to Nguyen Chau A, tour operator Oxalis general director, the new journey will give step by step difficult levels, including walking, trekking, and crossing streams.

A tour to the caves lasts two days and one night, including trekking through 10 kilometers of jungle and mountain sites, crossing a 500-meter long and 1 meter deep stream and a 15 m high wall in the middle of the Phong Nha-Ke Bang primeval forest.

Visitors can select two routes, including two-day route titled “Hang Va Expedition” with the fourth-level difficulty and one-day route titled “Nuoc Nut Experience” with the first-level difficulty with the total distance of 4 kilometres.

Visitors will get a chance to see beautiful stalactites and stalagmites. Especially at Va Cave, the stalactites have formed around hard objects such as pieces of wood and sand at the bottom of the lake. The calcium from the water covers these hard substances, and over time, the stalactites become larger.

In order to join this new route, visitors will be provided with safety equipment and conform guidance of experienced experts.

The Provincial People's Committee assigned Oxalis Company to urgently take measures for investment and environmental protection, exploit this new route towards sustainable development, ensuring environmental sanitation and natural landscapes as well as conservation of biodiversity and values of geology and geomorphology of world natural heritage site Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park.
