This is a part of diplomatic activities on culture of the province to welcome the 20th preparatory conference of nine provinces using Road 8 and 12, which is hosted by Quang Binh province, aiming to boost cooperative relation, solidarity and friendship between the provinces of three countries of Vietnam, Laos and Thailand.

The event is also to congratulate the election of deputies to the 14th National Assembly and all-level People's Councils for the 2016-2021 tenure.

This year's Quang Binh open traditional boat race draws the special participation of boat teams from Khammouane province (Laos) and Bung Kan province (the Kingdom of Thailand).

The race boat is the kind of composite boat, which is designed according to the standard of competition of Seagames.

The main race will compete in 12 teams at the distance of 1,000m and 2,000m. The boat teams are divided into two groups, each group will choose three excellent teams to compete in the final round.

The friendly race will has four teams in competition at the distance of 1,000m, including 01 boat team from Thailand, 01 from Laos and 02 boats from Vietnam that win the first and the second at the distance of 1,000m.

The event is to introduce and popularize culture, people and tourism of Quang Binh to international friends, speed up tourism promotion activities in the province; encourage and maintain national sport movement, and promote socialization of sport.

This is an opportunity to evaluate and select the most excellent boat teams for the national competition in 2016.
