224 tourists permitted to Son Doong cave in 2014

(Quang Binh Website) - Thanks to being made headlines in prestigious magazines, including the Guardian of UK, News of Australia, Business Insider and the New York Times of the United States, a large number of tourists have fully booked for tours to Son Doong Cave. Due to adventurous nature of the trips and strict regulations on safety and conservation, only 224 tourists is permitted to discover Son Doong Cave tours in 2014, according to Mr. Le Luu Dzung, Executive Director of Oxalis Company Limited.

In order to ensure safety and meet the demand of visitors for exploring Son Doong Cave, the Oxalis Company Limited in coordination with the Department of Cultural, Sport and Tourism has recently opened a special training course for 40 tourism workers to improve their service skills for Son Doong tour, enhance communications skills with tourists; settlement of problems and instruction for safe equipment; rescue skills and use of climbing equipment, Mr. Dzung said.

This year, the Oxalis Company has invited two top cave experts of the British Cave Research Association together with Howard Limbert and his wife to train guides for conducting cave exploration tours.
