Phong Nha - Ke Bang 2016 tourism - a year in review

 (Quang Binh Portal) - In the context of meeting many difficulties and challenges, especially the Formose-caused environmental incidents and many consecutive floods, affecting to tourism activity in Quang Binh in general and Phong Nha - Ke Bang in particular, however, Phong Nha - Ke Bang tourism in 2016 has still achieved a remarkable growth.

 1. At the end of 2016, Phong Nha - Ke Bang tourism welcomed and served more than 705,042 tourists, an increase of 1% from the same period last year, of which international tourists achieved 82,410, up 1% and domestic tourists reached 622,632, up 1%.

2. Opening the two new tourism products, including route of Hamad - Tra Ang Cave and Thien Duong Cave - Heaven Well, contributing to diversifying the types of tourism in the Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park; development of new tourism services to meet the increasing demands of tourists such as swimming pool for children and Dong Duong Ca tru performance at the Chay River - Dark Cave route, underwater sports at the Chay Lap Farmstay.

3. Successfully organizing an excursion for a group of ambassadors from the Czech Republic, Argentina, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Italy, and Australia and U.S. Assistant Secretary of State to conquer Son Doong Cave, the world's largest natural cave.

4. Son Doong Cave has been recognised as the largest of its kind in the world by three international world record organisations at the same time, including Guinness ( based in the UK), the Association World Record (based in Hong Kong) and WorldKings (based in the US and India).

5. An US famous film crew and director Jordan Vogt-Roberts shot scenes for the movie "Kong: Skull Island" at Phong Nha - Ke Bang and the 2nd return of director Jordan Vogt-Roberts in 2016 with an excursion of Son Doong Cave through "The Great Wall of Vietnam", aiming to promote values of the heritage.

With the remarkable achievements obatined in 2016, Phong Nha - Ke Bang tourism in 2017 is expected to achieve a strong development and becomes the tourism heart of Quang Binh.
