Quang Binh where the road system No.559, which was all known as Truong Son Road or Ho Chi Minh Trail, starts. This transportation system played its role as the most important supply means for the South during Vietnam’s resistance war against the American imperialist.

The hottest, most difficult and also most victorious spot in the road was identified to be at the gates Western of Quang Binh including Roads No.12, 20, 10, 16 and 18, which all take branch from Road No.15 on Eastern Truong Son Range in Quang Binh province. The well-known points are namely Khe Ve, Ring Stream, Xuan Son Quay, Long Dai Quay (on Road No.15), Bai Dinh, La Trong and Cong Troi Haven’s Gate (on Road No.12A), cha La, A-shaped turn, Ta Le, Phu La Nhich Pass (Road No.20), of which the fiercest is Group A.T.P. During the sixteen years of Truong Son Road’s existence, from 1959 to 1975, Quang Binh well reflected the strategic model of "matrix in the jungle". From Quang Binh, Troop No.559 at its early time started its logistics task to the South by carrying supplies on the back or by bicycles. In the following periods, all the communication lines, inland and water ways, pipe lines and even airlines also departed from there.

Together with the country’s innovative development, Ho Chi Minh transnational road with two branches running across Quang Binh is being diligently constructed. This transportation system of the modernization and industrialization time has given way for the development of industrial parks, urban cities and industrial material supplying zones along the road. At the same time, it has positively contributed to the development of remote, isolated and ethnic minorities’ areas, the cause of hunger alleviation and poverty reduction and national defense. The development of Ho Chi Minh Road has initiated the exploitation of "The Legendary Road" tour that brings visitors to the old days’ battlefields and their war relics. "The Legendary Road" tour is fast becoming an attractive tourist destination bridging the past and the present.
