(Quang Binh Portal) – The People’s Committee of Dong Hoi City held a street festival and "Mua bong cheo can" folk performance in Dong Hoi city on April 26th. This was an event in series of cultural activities of the 2015 Dong Hoi Culture and Tourism Week and to welcome the 40th anniversary of the South Liberation and National Reunification Day (April 30th, 1975-2015).

Street festival

The event drew the participation of 600 artists in the locality. The street parade started from three points, including Dao Duy Tu high school, Suot Mother Statue and Nhat Le Park. The groups paraded across Nhat Le bridge and ended at the Bao Ninh Sea Square.

For more than an hour, the trio garbed in extravagantly colourful outfits sashayed along the parade route-all as part of a concerted effort to raise the profile of the province and boost domestic and inbound tourism.

The event aims to honor traditional folk cultural values of Dong Hoi city and spread the image of Quang Binh tourism, especially Dong Hoi sea tourism to foreign and domestic visitors.

After the street festival, “Cheo can, mua bong" art performance ("Cheo can" performance, "bong" (flower) dance) with the attendance of eight groups including more than 190 artists of Bao Ninh commune was taken place at the Bao Ninh Sea Square.

“Mua bong cheo can” art performance

This is a meaningful activity to honor traditional culture with distinct features of Dong Hoi fishermen in particular and Quang Binh people in general, in order to pray for calm sky and smooth sea, good weather and a bumper crop.
