Media workshop in the conservation and development of Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park

(Quang Binh Website) – On November 30, 2010, the Quang Binh Provincial People’s Committee in coordination with the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) held a media workshop in the conservation and development of Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park. The workshop is within the framework of the German Year in Vietnam marking 35 years of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Germany as well as the UN International Year of Biodiversity 2010.

Attending the workshop was Mr. Nguyen Xuan Quang, Permanent Vice-chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Mr. Dinh Minh Thu, Permanent Vice-chairman of the Provincial People’s Council; representatives of international organizations and the Ministries of Planning and Investment, Natural Resources and Environment, Agriculture and Rural Development; leaders of related agencies and localities.

Addressing the workshop, Vice-chairman Nguyen Xuan Quang acknowledged results that German organizations obtained in the conservation and development of Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park and expressed his confidence in related organizations and partners to make full use of media products, contributing to raise public awareness and promote sustainable tourism in Phong Nha – Ke Bang region.

At the workshop, representatives of international organizations shared their experiences in work of media and discussed to find out solutions for current and future challenges facing German and Vietnamese organizations that jointly work to protect the park in the coming time.

Besides, media products such as panels, brochures, audio and video films of Phong Nha – Ke Bang were presented at the workshop. The objective was to raise public awareness of conservation and development of Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park as a World Natural Heritage Site.
