Over three-year implementation, the Program of tourism development gained great results in the economic, political and social fields, contributing to the province's socio-economic development, promoting development of all industries, shifting economic structure towards increasing density of service in GDP and associating with poverty alleviation for the community; improving the role and position of tourism industry, making a great breakthrough in improving the awareness and responsibility of all levels, branches and society in the provincial tourism development. The total number of tourists coming to Quang Binh from 2006 to 2008 was estimated at 1.690 million participants of people, increasing 1.7 times, of which 61 thousand participants of international tourists, increasing 3.9 times. Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park received 759 thousand participants of tourists, increasing 1.6 times, of which 31 thousand participants of international tourists, increasing 6.6 times. Turnover from tourism industry was estimated to reach VND307 billion, increasing 3.6 times; social income from tourism activity achieved VND790 million, increasing 2.8 times. Over the past three years, VND804 billion has been mobilized to invest in development of technical and material facilities and infrastructure to serve tourism. So far, 25 projects have been registered investment in tourism, of which 14 projects have been being carried out with the invested capital of VND679 billion.

The goal in the coming time is to continuously implement planned targets of the Program of Tourism Development of Quang Binh province for 2006-2008 period, making a great breakthrough in the quality of growth, capacity of competition and effectiveness of activity on basis of investment promotion; development and diversification of tourism products; making full use of potentials and advantages, reducing disadvantages to speed up the progress of tourism development; strengthening international cooperation and promoting the expansion of tourism market to attract tourists, improve effectiveness of business and develop tourism; enhancing awareness of the community of sustainable tourism development; accelerating work of tourism socialization, mobilizing all resources for tourism development and investment. Concretely, by the year 2010, Quang Binh tourism strives to reach the total number of tourists of 600-700 thousand participants of tourists a year, of which there are 30-35 thousand participants of international tourists; turnover from tourism achieves VND320-350 billion; paying VND65-70 billion to state budget; density of tourism makes up 10% in GDP.

At the meeting, delegates discussed to put forward to solutions to complete targets of the Program of tourism development for 2006-2008 period, bringing tourism to become a key industry of the province.

Addressing the meeting, Vice-chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Cong Thuat recorded obtained results in the past three years. He also stated some tasks in the coming time, namely: Invest in diversification of attractive and unique tourism products of Quang Binh; organize activities of traditional culture, festivals to attract tourists; train and develop human resources to meet the demand of tourism development in the new period and the tendency of international economic integration; strengthen work of investment promotion, propaganda and popularization to spread image of Quang Binh tourism to foreign and domestic market in order to attract and invest in tourism development...
