Establish 22 conservation groups in Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park region

 (Quang Binh Portal) - The Provincial People"s Committee has issued Decision No.3856/QD-UBND dated December 30, 2015 approving the project of establishing conservation groups in villages of the Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park region.

Accordingly, 22 conservation groups will be established in nine communes of three districts of Minh Hoa, Bo Trach and Quang Ninh, bordering with special use forest area of the Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, which has the high risk of deforestation, forest degradation and biodiversity declines.

Each group, including from 8 to 10 members, in collaboration with the forest management forces and border guards has the responsibility for forest protection patrol, forest fire prevention and biodiversity conservation in the boundary of the Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park.

Besides, the conservation groups will also disseminate and persuade their family, relatives and people in the villages to participate in forest protection, biodiversity conservation, heritage preservation and sustainable management of natural resources in the Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park region.

Duration for operation of the conservation group lasts six years from 2016 to 2021.

The establishment of conservation groups in villages of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park region is to assist the Parkk's Management Board in patrol and forest protection; biobiversity conservation; prevention from illegal behaviours to forest development and protection, forest fire; promotion of values of the world natural heritage site, Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, contributing to enhance awareness of environmental protection, improve income and livelihoods for local community in the buffer zone of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park.
