Vo Nguyen Giap Street

The resolution was adopted at the 10th session of the 16th Quang Binh provincial People’s Council on December 12.

Accordingly, The new street, named Vo Nguyen Giap Street, seven kilometres long and 60 metres wide, is located in Dong Hoi city of Quang Binh province. It runs along the coast and is currently the widest roadway in Dong Hoi city. In the future, it will connect the two districts of Quang Ninh and Le Thuy - the General’s hometown.

According to Mr. Luong Van Luyen, Director of the Quang Binh provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the naming the widest street in Dong Hoi city after such an important figure as General Giap was a fitting choice. With its good location and modern infrastructure, Vo Nguyen Giap Street will be the most beautiful roadway in Dong Hoi city.

Quang Binh province is the homeland of the revered general, who passed away on October 4 in Hanoi at the age of 103.

Following a state funeral, General Vo Nguyen Giap was buried in the Vung Chua area of Quang Trach district, Quang Binh province, overlooking the East Sea.
