The meeting was attended by Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Tran Tien Dung, leaders of relevent departments and branches, the Management Board of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park; Mekong Subregion Sustainable Tourism Development Project; Association of Tourism and tourism businesses in the province.

In 2013, a lot of remarkable results have been seen in tourism activities. Total number of tourists to Quang Binh reached more than 123,000, an increase of 17% against 2012 (of which, arrivals for visiting General Vo Nguyen Giap’s tomb reached over 227,000); international tourists were at estimation of 32,400, an increase of 9%. Revenues from tourism were estimated to reach VND1,180 billion, rose 18.7%.

Orientation for tourism development in 2014 is to open new tours to explore caves in Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park; put Bang mineral hot spring into operation; develop helicopter service for tourism; open Donghoi-Taiwan airline, speed up tourism promotion to lure investors to Quang Binh and so on. In addition, the sector strives to welcome 1,300,000 tourists, of which 35,000 international tourists. Revenues from tourism reaches VND1,300 billion, an increase of 10.8% compared to 2013.

At the meeting, participants exchanged experience in tourism business and discussed to solve difficulties in connection between travel agents, tourism infrastructure, food safety and human resource.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman Tran Tien Dung praised the efforts made by the tourism sector and businesses in the province and expressed his hope that tourism businesses will continue improving the quality of tourism in 2014 with a series of main activities, including 410th anniversary of establishment of Quang Binh province, 55th anniversary of Truong Son Road - Ho Chi Minh Road and 25th anniversary of reestablishment of the province.
