Son Doong: among the world’s nine most wonderful caves

 (Quang Binh Portal) - Recently, the Business Insider Magazine of the US has announced the list of the nine most wonderful caves in the world, including Son Doong Cave in Vietnam.

According to the Magazine, Son Doong Cave is located in the core region of the Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, Bo Trach district, Quang Binh provine, Vietnam.

The cave is a part of the underground system which connects with more than 150 other caves in Vietnam, bordering with Laos.

Son Doong Cave is now the largest natural cave in the world, created by a underground s under a limestone mountain range about 2-5 million years ago.

The cave is 150 meters in width and over 200 in height. The cave was first discovered in 1991 by local people and announced in 2009 by the British Royal Research Cave Association, making the world overwhelmed by the incredible beauty of this cave.

The Magazine also honoured Mendehall Glacier Cave in Alaska, USA; New Zealand’s Waitomo Glowworm Cave; Italy’s Blue Grotto; Huowu Cave (Deer), Sarawak in Malaysia; Fingal cave in Scotland; Benagil in Algarve, Portugal; and Swallows in San Luis Potosí, Mexico.
