(Quang Binh Portal) - According to the Department of Tourism, during the Tet holidays from January 26th to February 1st, 2017, the province welcomed more than 105,000 tourists, up 8% from the same period of 2016. Of them, over 7,000 are international visitors, a year-on-year surge of 133%.

Attractive destinations were Phong Nha Cave, Thien Duong Cave, Chay River - Dark Cave, Tam Co Cave and temple of heroes and martyrs on the Quyet Thang 20 Road, Hoang Phuc Pagoda, Lieu Hanh Princess Temple, Than Dinh Mountain, etc. Especially, nearly 50,000 tourists visited the tomb of General Vo Nguyen Giap during the first days of New Year.

The reason for high increase in tourist arrivals during the Tet holidays is that the sector has deployed many tourism stimulus programs and promotional programs at the end of 2016 and the beginning of 2017.

In addition, the sector has also actively strengthened tourism promotion and popularization on the mass media, improved the quality of services, ensured food hygience and safety, maintained social order and security.

Besides, weather condition during Tet holidays is also favorable for visiting. This is an optimistic sign for Quang Binh tourism at the beginning of the new Spring season.

In order to promote the tourism sector in the coming time, the Department of Tourism focuses on welcoming tourists at destinations, launched tourist routes such as excursions to Tu Lan Cave, Rao Thuong - En Cave, Va - Nuoc Nut Caves, especially organize the first tour in 2017 to conquer Son Doong Cave - the world's biggest cave for 10 international tourists, etc.
