The Drum Beating Festival.

The Drum Beating Festival is an unique cultural feature of the Ma Coong people belonging to the Bru-Van Kieu ethnic group living in Thuong Trach commune, Bo Trach district. Every year, after the Lunar New Year, the Ma Coong ethnic group eagerly organized the Drum Beating Festival to celebrate the new moon season. The festival is taken place on January 16 (according to Lunar Calendar). This is extremely unique traditional festival and it is considered as the most important festival of this ethnic minority. It is annually held to commemorate the first leader of Ma Coong group and pray for favorable weather, productive crops, health and wealth. In spite of undergoing many changes over time, the Drum Beating Festival of Ma Coong people still remains unchanged original values which is imbued with national cultural identity.

After the victory of the August Revolution, the Traditional Boat Racing Festival on the Kien Giang river is usually taken place on the occasion of “Independence Day” - National Day on September 2.
