Tour to Son Doong Cave in 2017 opened on sale
Quang Binh welcomed 442 visitors to Son Doong tour in 2016
Oxalis, which was allowed by the Quang Binh Provincial People's Committee to run the tour to En Cave and Son Doong Cave, said that 442 tourists visited and conquered Son Doong Cave in 2016, including a group of diplomats from several countries like Argentina, Sweden, Italy, UK, Australia and the Czech Republic, and Assistant Secretary of State Tom Malinowski.
Thousands of people have sought tickets, which would be sold on and a first come, first served basis to those who satisfy health requirements, Oxalis said.
Oxalis has been organizing five-day tours to the cave with 10 people at most. Tickets for 2017 cost VND66 million (US$3,000) per person.
A tour party usually comprises around 25 people, including porters, a cook, a tour guide, two cave experts and two park rangers.
The tour "Conquering Son Doong - the world's largest cave" is currently one of domestic and international level tours. Son Doong Cave has been also regarded as one of top ten stunning places you must visit in your life. Many famous magazines in the world like National Geographic, New York Times, Google Adwords, Tripadvisors, etc and domestic newspapers have popularized and introduced the outstanding and unique values of Son Doong Cave. Especially, the world has been overwhelmed by the beauty of Son Doong Cave through the ABC's "Good Morning America" proramme of the United States in 2015.
Son Doong Cave is more than 200m wide, 150m high, and approximately 9km long. Within its caverns lie a jungle and a river, and the cave is large enough to fit a 40-storey skyscraper inside. The cave was classified as the largest cave in the world by the British Cave Research Association.
