(Quang Binh Portal) - Recently, the Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism and the Chua Me Dat Company, Ltd (Oxalis) has held a ceremony to announce the Decision of the Provincial People"s Committee on opening a tour to Tien (Fairy) Cave according to new route.

Accordingly, the tourist route to Tu Lan cave system after being expanded to Tien Cave includes 11 destinations, of which 8 sites are located in Tan Hoa commune, Minh Hoa district (Chuot Cave, Hung Ton Cave, Tu Lan Cave, Ken Cave, Kim Cave, Song Cave, Uoi Cave and Bi Mat Cave) and 3 sites in Cao Quang commune, Tuyen Hoa district (Tien Cave 1, Tien Cave and Nuoc Mooc Lake).

Belong to Tu Lan cave system, with wild and magnificent beauty, Tien Cave is the destination for those who started with the conquest tour in Quang Binh. It is between the large mountain ranges and dense canopy, so before proceeding to the cave, visitors will have to pass through the jungle, crossing streams and trekking through the trails.

Tien Cave was first explored by experts from the British Caving Association in 1994 and is recognised as one of the largest caves in the Tu Lan cave system.

Located in Cao Quang Commune, in the mountainous district of Tuyen Hoa, the Tien Cave consists of stalagmite with layer upon layer and looks like terraced fields. It was so-called “a nameless heaven”.

The cave's name means "fairy" in Vietnamese and comes from a legend that its beauty charmed fairies, who refused to leave the cave once they came here. Local people consider the cave as a holy site and have reportedly organized important religious events in their spiritual life, including praying for rain and for peace. The sacred and mysterious factors retain this scenic beauty’s ancient and wild characteristics.

The cave has a total distance of 3km, including two branches of Tien Cave 1 and Tien Cave 2. It has large entrance which is 50 meters wide and 70 meters high with thousands of huge stalactite cliffs, about 100m high.

The most impressive thing about Tien Cave is its stalagmitic stairs right at its entrance. Sunlight allows the area near the entrance to have a great biodiversity. Magnificent columns of stalagmites and stalactites can be found about 400 meters from the entrance. Three of the cave's four domes which are more than 70 meters high. Reefs of stalagmites are seen inside the cave, which is as wide as 50 meters and nearly three kilometers long. Floors look like terrace fields inside the cave. When it rains, the "fields" will be flooded. Meanwhile, ceilings are densely marked with lines, which gives the cave yet another a spectacular look.

The Oxalis Adventure Tour Operator has been permitted to operate tour to Tien Cave. Each tour is designed a maximum of 8 tourists with 3 tour a week.

The new tour will be available from this November to next August and temporarily suspended in September and October due to flood season.

Visitors need to ensure they are in good health before embarking on the adventurous trip. They will be provided with safety equipment during the journey.
