Over US$11 million for sustainable tourism development in the expanded Mekong region

In the afternoon of Feb 29, A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for sustainable tourism development in the expanded Mekong region was signed in Ha Noi.

Signatories to the MoU were representative of the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism, the Asian Development Bank and the Mekong Tourism Development Project Management Board.

The Projects worth more than US$11 million will be implement over five years in Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Binh and Quang Tri Provinces as part of the MoU.

The five provinces have a high number of poor households but are seen as possessing potential for tourism development.

"We hope that the project will find out models for tourism development and alleviate poverty effectively, contributing to improving the people's life in localities as part of the Project," said Culture, Sports and Tourism Minister Hoang Tuan Anh at the signing ceremony.
